What is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment?

CO2 Laser resurfacing facial is one of the most advanced skin rejuvenation treatments available and is known in the industry as being effective in treating both superficial and deep skin problems, such as acne scarring, wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage.

The Carbon Dioxide CO2 laser was one of the earliest gas lasers to be developed. It was invented by Kumar Patel of Bell Labs in 1964, and is still one of the most useful. Carbon dioxide lasers are the highest-power continuous wave lasers that are currently available.

CO2  effectively targets both superficial and deeper layers of your skin for a smoother, more even complexion. Harnessing laser energy, CO2RE can be used to rejuvenate and resurface the skin in as little as one treatment.

The targeted energy of this high-tech CO2 laser stimulates collagen formation for continued improvement and younger-looking skin long after you have left the clinic.
CO2 has the unique advantage of 4 treatment modes; from improving the appearance of pores on the outer layer of your skin, to working deep into the dermis to smooth and reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Is the CO2 Laser  safe?

Yes.
A compulsory consultation is required prior to the treatment, therefore this will give you the opportunity to speak with your practitioner about your complete medical and skin history to minimise the potential for any negative reactions.

What is the CO2 Laser Treatment like?

You can expect some moderate discomfort during the treatment, but the anesthetic applied prior to the procedure typically makes any discomfort tolerable. For more aggressive, higher power treatments, your practitioner may recommend a subcutaneous anesthetic, oral pain relievers and/or sedatives during the treatment session. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken in the days after the procedure to alleviate any residual discomfort.

How do I know if CO2 treatments are right for me?

Ideal candidates for CO2 Laser Facial  are in their 40’s or older with skin damaged skin by exposure to the sun, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, rough skin texture, acne scars, and other skin imperfections.
It is also the gold standard  dermatology treatment for any forms of scaring, particularly acne.

How much does the CO2 Laser treatment cost?

Prices start from £300 for a small scar (varies depending on area size and concern).   A compulsory consultation is required prior to the treatment where we will be able to discuss your concerns and develop a bespoke treatment plan for you.

Our pricing compared to various clinics around the UK is very competitive with the added benefit of being based just a few minutes away from the beautiful Welsh coastline.  If you are travelling from outside of Wales, we can signpost you to accommodation within a short driving distance from our clinic.

Can I spread the cost of the treatment?

Yes.  We are pleased to partner with Pretty Face Finance if you wish to spread the cost of your CO2 Laser Treatment.  Read more about Pretty Face Finance here.

How long will the results last of the CO2 Laser Facial?

The durability of CO2 Laser Treatment results approaches that of surgical procedures, as in permanante but doesn’t stop you getting older. You may feel the end for another treatment in 5-10 years.
However, there are a number of variables that will determine how long you can expect the results to last including: your health, age and how you care for your skin after treatment.  Your practitioner will be able to advise on suitable skin care products and after-care to ensure the best possible results.

Will there be any downtime after the CO2 Laser Treatment?

Immediately following the procedure you can expect a sensation similar to a sunburn, lasting several hours. You can expect peeling of dead skin from the treatment area. This is a natural exfoliation process that may last 7-10 days.
Do I need to take any special precautions after the CO2 Laser treatment?
Your practitioner may recommend a short course of antibiotics to minimize any risk of infection.  Use of a moisturiser and sun screen is essential during the healing process and for the weeks and months following treatment.

How many CO2 treatments will I need?

Generally you will see the difference you want after only one treatment. In the days after the treatment your skin will gradually look softer, smoother and tighter. The fine lines wrinkles, age spots and uneven textures will start to show immediate improvement. Scaring can and will take longer due to the nature of the healing process.
The full effects of the treatment are seen 3-6months after.
