Why choose dermal fillers?
As we age we lose volume, we also lose the elasticity on the skin, this leads to wrinkles, folds and sagging skin. Dermal fillers are used to replace this volume lose and give you back a youthful appearance. Here at The Grove Skin & Laser Clinic we only use fillers considered to be the best in the industry, many of which have won awards for their safety profile and natural long lasting results.
What are dermal fillers ?
There are essentially two types of dermal fillers.
Hyaluronic acid in a gel formate, it resembles the hyaluronic acid that is present in our skin which diminishes with age. Hyaluronic acid fillers also hydrate the skin as they encourage water into the area.
And calcium hydroxyapatite fillers which are collagen stimulating and encourage the body to produce new collagen which creates a tightening effect as well as filling.

What is the procedure for dermal fillers?
A comprehensive consultation is carried out by our clinical nurse specialist Jodie where you will be asked to fill out a medical questionnaire. Jodie Will then perform a facial assessment and discuss your concerns and the best treatment plan for you.
If you are suitable for treatment and satisfied that you have chosen the best treatment plan with Jodie’s expert opinion and knowledge and all questions have been answered then a booking is made for the treatment to be carried out.
On the day of treatment topical anesthetic cream is applied to numb the area this takes 10-20 minutes and ensures the treatment is as pain free as possible.
The dermal filler is then injected slowly with lots of reassurance from Jodie and Jodie’s method of treating is to inject small amounts and allow you to look in the mirror frequently to ensure you end up with a satisfactory treatment and the desired result.
Once the filler has been injected a post procedure cream is applied to soothe any redness and ease any swelling that may occur.
What are the risks with dermal fillers ?
Risks associated with dermal fillers are commonly bruising and swelling.
Very uncommon is vessel occlusion and an allergic reaction both which Jodie is trained to deal with
