What are skin tags ?
A Skin tag is a small, soft, skin-coloured growth. It hangs off the skin and looks a bit like a wart. Skin tags are very common, harmless, and vary in colour and size – from a few millimetres up to 5cm (about 2 inches) wide. Skin tags can be found on the neck, armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts. They irritate and annoy, so this is why a lot of people like them removed.

How do we remove them ?
We are able to remove skin tags here at The Grove Skin Clinic Swansea. We remove Skin tags by a method called Electrocautery. This method uses a tiny electrical current which is passed through a tiny needled which as a result cauterises the tissue. The Skin tag either comes off immediately or it falls off in a few days. This method reduces the amount of bleeding and is a very precise way of removing unwanted skin tags and blemishes.
How long does it take ?
We use a numbing cream to make the procedure more comfortable, due to this the procedure takes around 30 minutes. In addition our practitioner can use local anaesthetic. This is the benefit of having this procedure done in a medical clinic as we have methods to make the procedure as comfortable as we can for you.
Are there any side effects ?
The area can be a little sore for a couple of days after and can feel a bit like sun burn or a graze. This doesn’t last long.
Is there any specific aftercare ?
We advise keeping the area dry for 24 hours and avoiding anything that could irritate or rub the area, therefore things like high perfumed lotions or products.
How much does it cost ?
For an individual skin tag the cost is £80, For multiple skin tags a price will be given at consultation.
Any skin leisions that are not skin tags will be priced at consultation as cost depends on a variety of factors including if a biopsy is necessary.
