Cosmelan® Introduction
Cosmelan®, is the pioneering treatment in the field of skin depigmentation to treat the most severe and resistant skin blemishes. The Cosmelan® method is a topical treatment lasting approximately 6 months that combines a single in clinic session with at-home treatment necessary to obtain optimum results.
The Cosmelan® treatment uses a unique combination of active ingredients to visibly remove pigment spots and freckles. It regulates the overproduction of pigmentation to prevent the spots reappearance. This treatment is also fantastic for removing the appearance of melasma.

Cosmelan® treatment can help with the following skin conditions:
- Freckles: a cluster of cells which have produced more melanin. They’re prominent on people with fair skin and most common in children. They’re caused by exposure to the sun.
- Melasma: also known as pregnancy mask. This is the darkening of the skin on the face and body.

No, small tingling and warming sensation can be felt from the in clinic peel.
The most significant change takes place a few weeks after applying the in clinic peel. This can give a misleading feeling of success as skin feels softer and decrease appearance of pigmentation. During this period melanin has been removed from the outermost skin layers, and therefore we see the spot much more faded but pigmentation problem has not been controlled yet. The melanocyte, a cell where melanin is produced, is still uncontrolled and continues to produce pigment (melanin) in excess. To re-educate the melanocyte and control this overproduction, it is important to continue a home treatment with regulating action, so that the cell returns to a normal active state and therefore prevent spots from reappearing.
Yes. The treatment plan is very strict, we cannot prescribe this procedure to patients who will not stay on plan or are not dedicated to the Comelan® Method.
No. We do not recommend going on holiday whilst on this Cosmelan® plan due to sun exposure. The Cosmelan® method is trying to achieve the maximum results for depigmenting the skin, going into the sun will reverse the overall goal and result.
