Dermal Fillers Introduction

As we age we lose volume, we also lose the elasticity in the skin. This leads to wrinkles, folds, and sagging skin. Dermal fillers are used to replace this volume loss and give you back a youthful appearance.

Facial fillers are made with FDA approved hyaluronic acid a substance that occurred naturally in our skin but diminishes with age. Dermal fillers are an effective and immediate way to address facial volume loss and deep wrinkles. They allow our experts to contour the face creating a youthful refreshed and often more balanced look.

Here at The Grove Skin & Laser Clinic we use Merz Belotero range of  hyaluronic acid.

Dermal Filler Treatments

We excel at using facial fillers for the following areas and combining areas for a smooth full face rejuvenation.

  • Lip fillers – As with all areas of the face the lips thin with age and loose their definition and structure resulting in a wrinkled less youthful look. Some men and women are also born with naturally thin lips.

Belotero have products specifically to address both the lost volume and the definition and shape having these versatile products allow us to enhance and restructure your natural lip shape.

  • Cheeks – Volume loss in the cheeks has a huge impact on the whole structure and shape of the face. It contributes to patients feeling like their face in drooping and sliding down. One of the most popular areas we treat here at The Grove Skin & Laser Clinic when done with expertise can really transform a patients features and confidence.
  • Under eye dermal fillers (tear trough for eye hollows) – Many factors contribute to hollowing and sagging eyes, including genetics and aging.

Using dermal fillers offers a minimal invasive, relatively quick treatment option to avoid surgery. By smoothing the under eye area and improving dark circles this treatment is very popular with patients of all ages.

Nasolabial Folds (nose to mouth lines)

These lines run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. This is often the first area patients start to notice and come in to discuss. They appear more prominent when we laugh or smile but if they become static and are noticeable all the time patients tent to want to try and soften them. This treatment is almost always combined with cheek fillers for a better more natural result.

Marionette Lines (mouth to chin lines)

These are seen just under the corners of the mouth and run down towards the chin. Patients often feel they make them look sad and or angry. Dermal filler is used to lift these and a much better result is seen when combining with mid face treatment for a more subtle natural outcome

Smokers Lines (vertical lip lines)

Lines around the lips are commonly referred to as smokers lines, however everyone gets them to some degree due to a break down of collagen and elastin all part of the aging process. The skin becomes loose and wrinkled small lines can develop on the boarder of the lips up towards the nose and down towards the chin. Dermal filler can fill and smooth these lines giving a much more youthful appearance.

Chin Fillers

A weak chin is usually a genetic trait, but can be due to bone regression as we age it can be a source of great self-consciousness. It affects the side profile and patients often feel they lack a clear neck-to-con contour. Often needing to be combined with jaw and or cheek fillers this treatment can really add structure to the entire face.

Crows Feet (lines around the eyes)

Often one of the first signs of aging a patient notices these fine lines and often a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers gets the best result. However fine superficial dermal filler into these lines can have a great effect at reducing them and refreshing the eyes.

Non-Surgical Nose Job

Dermal fillers can be used to reshape the nose (non surgical rhinoplasty) A much less invasive and risky procedure than a surgical nose job. Bumps can be smoothed out and asymmetry corrected, patients are worried by adding filler the nose will look larger when in fact it creates a neater more delicate outcome.

Jowls (jaw line filler)

The face starts to droop and sag with age creating what’s referred to as jowls. Using dermal filler in this area to define and restructure the face gives a lifting, lengthening effect. Often the cheeks are treated at the same time for a improved outcome.

Frown Lines

Also called glabella lines, are the furrows between the eyebrows, typically shaped like the number 11. Expression lines turn into permanent static lines when the skin loses its ability to spring back after frowning. filler can soften these lines often combining with anti-wrinkle injections gives a better longer lasting outcome.

Forehead Lines

Commonly treated with anti-wrinkle injections, but occasionally static lines are still visible and bothersome to patients, using a soft fine filler to lift and smooth the lines if often what’s needed

Dermal Filler Treatment Process

After a comprehensive consultation to discuss your concerns and goals and correct treatment plan, the dermal fillers process is as follows:

On the day of treatment topical anesthetic cream is applied to numb the area this takes 20-30 minutes and ensures the treatment is as comfortable as possible.

The dermal filler is then injected slowly with lots of reassurance, and in small amounts, allow you to look in the mirror frequently to ensure you end up with a satisfactory treatment and the desired result.
