Mole Removal
The average adult has 10-40 moles at any one time. These can grow anywhere on the body including your face, scalp and toes. Whilst many moles are of no concern, some moles can cause issues due to self confidence especially on the face, or if they are raised and prone to catching on clothing can bleed, In these instances, mole removal treatment could be a safe and effective way to remove unwanted moles from the body.
Mole removal is a quick, pain free procedure performed under local anaesthetic. We offer surgical and non-surgical techniques including:
- Surgical Excision – The surgical removal of the mole, often with a small border of the normal surrounding skin to reduce the risk of regrowth. The procedure involves stitches to close the incision and a small scar which will fade over time.
- Shave Removal – A surgical blade is used to remove the mole down to slightly beneath the surface of the skin. No stitches are required but a pink mark will need time to heal and gradually fade.
- CO2 –CO2 is a laser which ablates/burns the mole away leaving a neater scar and a faster healing time.
You can trust our specialists who have had decades of experience in assessing and treating moles to deliver the best mole removal service with short waiting lists.
Our care doesnt stop there, following removal, our experts can advise on additional mole checks or treatment, if needed.
Lumps & Bumps
Lumps and bumps refer to any lump or bump that may be present on your skin. In most cases these lumps are bumps are harmless but we do recommend that all patients visit their GP ahead of seeking removal treatment to ensure that there is no underlying medical condition and that it is safe to be removed.
There are lots of different causes for lumps or bumps to appear on the skin and these will vary depending on the type of lump it is. For example you may have a build-up of cells which can form moles, skin tags or even keloid scarring.
Different Types of Lumps & Bumps:

Warts are small lumps that most commonly appear on the hands whilst Verrucae appear on the feet. Although they are not considered contagious; they can be spread from person to person so great care should be taken.

Before & After Lesion Removal
Before: In the “before” image, various areas of the body show the presence of skin lesions such as moles, warts, or other growths. These lesions can be visually unappealing and may cause discomfort or concern. They can affect the smoothness and overall appearance of the skin, drawing unwanted attention and impacting self-confidence.
After: The “after” image illustrates the significant improvement following lesion removal on different parts of the body. The skin is now clear and smooth, with the lesions effectively removed. The treated areas look more aesthetically pleasing, with an even skin tone and texture, enhancing the overall appearance and comfort.

A biopsy involves removing a small sample of skin tissue for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment or both. If needed, the sample is sent for histopathological analysis for confirmation of diagnosis and, if necessary, further treatment will be planned accordingly.
The vast majority of moles should cause absolutely no concern but, with 37 UK diagnoses of malignant melanoma every day, having your skin checked and looking out for any changes regularly is absolutely vital.
Over the past 30 years, rates of malignant melanoma have risen faster than any other form of common cancer in the UK. Survival rates, however, are also amongst the highest due to a huge advance in early detection services. Most moles are harmless but, if you notice anything unusual or simply wish to have one removed, our mole mapping and removal service is designed to give you peace of mind and stop any form of cancer before it becomes an issue.
Advanced technology means that we are now able to detect malignant melanoma in its earliest stage, and the illness has one of the highest survival rates of any cancer. If you have any new moles after the age of 30 or if you notice any changes in existing moles, seeking professional help is quick, painless and really can save lives.
If necessary a biopsy can be carried out at The Grove Skin & Laser Clinic.
A biopsy is commonly done if you have a lump or swelling of a part of the body where there is no apparent cause. In these situations, often the only way to confirm whether the area of concern is cancerous is to perform a biopsy to look at the cells under the microscope.
If we believe it necessary after your consultation or if you are interested in examining a skin complaint further, we may undertake a skin biopsy to check there are no underlying problems.
